Osman Dereli received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration from the Faculty of Political Sciences at Ankara University and completed his master's degree in Accounting at the University of Illinois, United States.
Between 1997 and 2008, he served as a Tax Inspector and subsequently as a Chief Tax Inspector, conducting tax audits of major corporations.
From 2008 to 2012, he held the position of Group Head at the Turkish Revenue Administration, where he was responsible for issuing tax rulings and providing technical opinions on a wide range of tax matters.
Between 2012 and 2016, Mr. Dereli served as the Founding Vice President of the Public Oversight, Accounting and Auditing Standards Authority (POA). During this period, he played a key role in the development of Türkiye's independent auditing legislation, as well as in the establishment of national auditing and accounting standards.
From 2016 to 2020, he served as President of the Financial Crimes Investigation Board (MASAK). In this role, he developed extensive expertise in anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) legislation, with particular focus on the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) Standards and MASAK's regulatory framework and compliance practices.
Between 2020 and 2023, Mr. Dereli served as Ministerial Advisor and also held the position of Chairman of the Surety Fund.
Since July 2023, he has continued his professional career as a consultant through the companies he founded and co-founded, providing advisory services in the areas of independent auditing, anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism (AML/CFT), and taxation.
Mr. Dereli is a licensed Independent Auditor and Certified Public Accountant (Sworn-in CPA).
